Rolling Stone's 250 Greatest Guitarists of all time?
Hmmm... It have kind of a sonic youth/no wave vibe. Unintentional noise rock. I laugh 😂
Now him and that witch cant rip off any musicians anymore Good Riddance
Stevie played on the entire album with Bowie. Not just the one song. He was going to tour with Bowie as well, but they wanted Stevie to open the shows with Double Trouble as well as playing in Bowie's band. So it wasn’t really just the pay.
rest in peace Steve Albini🙏❤️
This is an awesome video thank you for making this.
Scott Burns also never took points or royalties from albums. He was just stoked to work with bands he was a fan of.
RIP steve. You were one of the good guys.
46:13 Jimmy Eat Page?
Eric Clapton thought he was the best until Hendrix? *laughing maniacally in Roy Clarke*
Hates capitalism, but, charged $100k up front. smdh
That isn't capitalism tho.....
He also didn't take any royalties. Dude needs to fucking eat somehow. It's $100k that goes not only into paying himself, but also the other people working at his studio AND the studio itself.
Capitalism is the the free markets the exchange of goods and services..we are all capitalist when we go to the market the gas station etc ...unless we want the government telling us what to buy ???
Based Albini
Great video on this guy Jimmy, have a great week.🙏👍👍like 15.
Thanks Davie!!! Have a great one 🤘😎🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Seeing Jimi in the velvet jacket and perfectly coiffed hair is pretty funny.
Haha yep those are rare shots - Jimi in his Sundays best
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day Jimmy ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you Amin, your kind words are appreciated my friend 🙏 🤘😎🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Interesting stuff!
Thanks Ben!!
Who else sounds like a classical shredder with songs as incredible as they are? No one. RIP Randy. Really good vid.
🤘🤘
Such a tragic loss.
Of all alternate pickers I like Paul's picking attack and style style the most.🤘 He was the most influential on my technique. Him and Yngwie both were the ones that lit a real fire under my A$$ to get better on guitar!
He really does have a great picking attack - agreed 100%
@@guitarmeetsscience Yeah when he released "Intense Rock I" I as Hooked! I studied that video like a religion! He had me practicing for 9-12 hours a day working on my technique.
@These_go_to_eleven_1959 Right on! I had a similar experience with Frank Gambale monster licks and speed picking.... Dude put me through the ringer lmao
Jimi Hendrix was to Rock & Roll What Bruce Lee was to the Martial Arts. And in ironic cruelty, fate took both of them far before their time was due.
What a great comment! You hit the nail on the head perfectly.
@@guitarmeetsscience🎤🐥 same date of birth 27 November , same day as mine , same day crossroad blues was recorded
@jesusislukeskywalker4294 wow that is awesome!!!!!
Hey great documentary man! ...........Very insightful.
Thank you so much Wayne I appreciate it! 🙏
My favourite moment watching jaxco is when he played piano with toots thielman on harmonica. Hard to stop watching that performance of his original song.
That is a great performance! It was sad because that was around the period when he was starting to really go through his difficulties. But that enthusiasm that he had for music was infectious. Such a talented and tortured soul.
@@guitarmeetsscience Yeah man....The emotions on both of their faces though and the passion just could not be more intense...A supreme joy to watch and listen to!
This is really good thanks very much. You tell stories that I’ve heard and some that I haven’t😃 Cheers 🎼🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Cheers my friend - I really appreciate your kind words! He was one hell of a player!!!!
42 years later and no one plays like Randy, his style. His tone. His Magic just can't be replicated
You absolutely hit the nail on the head. He just had that something!!!
Still annoyed that van halen said Randy copied him. He never made anything close to Mr Crowley or Revelation mother Earth. Very different players, like Randy alot more
Agreed - they were both Titans in their own way, and even after Randy's sudden passing, Eddie Van Halen maintained his stance on that. I think it was more of a one-way rivalry sadly.
If he'd had a chance to study classical guitar like he wanted , his technique would have been light years ahead of the so called , Shredders . And , it would've been tastefully done .
Tim is veering into Malmsteen territory with his attitude. His opinion means jack-squat.
Malmsteen territory.... Haha yep!
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
Nice video and performance 👍👍👍 Have a good day 😉 Greetings 😎
Thank you! You too!
Great job on this documentary of Stevie Ray, just wish you would've mentioned something about The Sky Is Crying, the posthumous fifth and final studio album. Other than that, thanks for putting together this excellent tribute to the greatest guitarist that ever lived. I miss him even more after watching this, even if it is 34 years later.
Thank you!! Definitely a good call!!!
He was a musicians musician , was and will always be an inspiration to many
Slipknot, Deftones, korn, pantera, meshuggah, Metallica are all doing pretty good 💀 (the list could go on lmao)
I wouldn't consider Led Zeppelin a "metal band". I would consider them a hard rock band mostly because their songs revolve around BLUES music, with a heavy back beat.
That is correct
The sad fact is most guitarists can't make a living just plying guitar. I'm pretty sure Guthrie has not made a fortune; can't imagine the Aristocrats are playing for stadium crowds.. Even Vaii, Satriani, Johnson still touring in their 60's to make ends meet. Why I just play for my own enjoyment,, and make my income as a software developer. No stress playing just for fun. I do recxognize GG incredible technique and speed. But there is something missing; soul, finesse, emotion, I can only listen to him for a few minutes before I tune out. On the other hand I can listen to SRV all day long. That power, emotion and soul are what is missing in most guitarists these days.
I could relate with you totally. I'm the same way, I used to play professionally and spent more time fighting for a fair paycheck then actually performing. Now I'm a DSP engineer by day and cranking out these bios by night. Still get some jam time in - but yeah making a living in guitar especially in the more extreme levels of playing is tough. Luckily for Guthrie Govan he was able to come out with a signature ax as well as his excellent creative guitar books which I'm sure have at least helped him stay afloat. Steve and Joe also got into their own signature gear, There is a lot of branching out that has to be done. SRV on the other hand cranked out enough hits in his time as did Eric Clapton. A lot more financial gain only with SRV, he was able to stay completely true to his style throughout. Thanks for sharing your tank I really enjoyed reading that!
Pauls awesome,...but playes the same stuff he did in Racer X,....he hasn't matured or evolved,......look at Richie Kotzen,.....he could play all this shed stuff at 17,......but evolved into this blues singer song writer that has an ever evolving style,......paul plays scales fast then,...and fast scales now
I could use Gilberts 4-6 licks properly after I tried Petruccis 1 minute legato practice, before that I could do it but very sloppy!had Intense Rock 1-2 on vhs untill they got stolen!
Damn! Well I hope the VHS thief at least put in some time practicing to it! That's a great lesson series!
He was some guitarist Jimmy! like 111.
Thanks Davie!!!
When you look at Jimmy page he used ,a marshall amp and a Gibson eds-12-75 duel neck and just played no tricks just him and the guitar today groups use to many electronic to get the right feel
Exactly - straight into a wah and into the amp.... Simple and effective setup!
No one will ever be like Jimi. They can imitate bit not Originate like he did. He was truly a Shooting Star passing by us for a Magical moment in Time, Thank You Jimi for the Inspiration and thanks to GMS for an Awesome video of him being Jimi...
Thank you Albert I agree 100%. Jimi Hendrix was such a legend - and in a lot of ways I don't even think he knew it.
Jimi was not the best guitarist but he was the only one that was best at being Jimi
Pound cake Pound sand 😂😂😂😂
Haha yep!!
I was talking to an older lady a few years ago . She said she managed to smuggle herself with her friend into Jimi’s dressing room in Blackpool , England 1967 before his concert . By the way, l did get to see him myself just before his death at The lsle of Wight Festival 1970. He was very tired and not at his best . His equipment kept malfunctioning as well. It was still a great thrill though to see him live..
That must've been one hell of an experience!!!
She didn’t immediately call paramedics. She called Eric Burdon freaking out, at which time he said “call an ambulance!” She eventually did, but it was after awhile.
Jimi had HUGE hands. Allowing him to simply manhandle the neck of the guitar into submission to create any sound in his head. As a guitar player with small hands, I envy his hands most of all. Dudes thumb could probably fret the high E string if he wanted to. Mine can barely fret the low E while trying to play Jimi's songs. He made guitar sound so effortless and easy to play. Until you pick up a guitar and realize he is playing some of the most intricate and complex positions ever. And that thumb is constantly putting in WORK. He's a genius, gifted both musically and physically.
Exactly right!!!
Yep the same thing with Paul Gilbert, my favorite player. Huge hands are a real advantage in playing the guitar.
First guitar player I’ve heard that could make a guitar growl, and play the sound of a spiral toward the end of dazed and confused on TSRTS it comes through you’re ears and makes you feel/see a spiral along with alternate tuning the use of a bow, therman, wha, and various other techniques.
Perfect description of his playing!!!
Paul may look like a hedge fund manager now, but he can still shred.
.... Like a beast!!!! 🤘😎🤘
Good content glad you didn't go crazy with the Click bait that going wild on UA-cam now
